Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home is a family-owned funeral home with deep roots in the community. The firm has provided continuous service to Seward and area communities for 150 years. Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home is a continuation of the firm established on August 6, 1874 by John Kribbeler.

In 1890, Mr. W. H. Moore purchased the Furniture and Undertaking business, which he owned until 1913 when he sold the firm to Mr. Albert Chain. Mr. Chain assumed ownership on May 14, 1913, stepping off the train to witness a tornado that slashed through Seward. Mr. Fay Wood became a partner with Mr. Chain in 1916, with the firm's name changing to Chain and Wood. Mr. Wilber Wood joined the firm in 1918 and became Fay's partner in the 1940's when Mr. Chain died.

The firm's name was then changed to Wood Brothers Chapel and Mortuary. Wilber's son, John C. Wood joined the firm in 1955 and was active in the business until the firm was purchased in August of 1998 by Greg and Dixie Zabka and became Wood-Zabka Funeral Home. Greg has been in funeral service since 1972, joining Wood Brothers as a funeral director in 1977. In April of 2008, the firm's name was changed to Zabka Funeral Home. Brad Perdue has been in funeral service since 1992, joining Zabka Funeral Home on June 20, 2011. Brad and Jill Perdue purchased the funeral home from Greg and Dixie in January of 2018. In January 2019, the firm's name was changed to Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home.

It is our desire to conduct service to families in a thoughtful, compassionate and professional manner and to maintain the tradition of private, family-owned funeral service.
