Bradley Perdue

Owner, Funeral Director

Brad graduated from Red Oak High School in Red Oak, IA, in 1988. He went on to attend New England Institute at Mt. Ida College in Boston, MA and finished his education at the Kansas City College of Mortuary Science in 1992. Brad was employed at a funeral home in Colorado for 12 years before moving to Sioux City, Iowa in 2004. Brad joined the staff at Zabka Funeral Home in June of 2011, and purchased the funeral home from Greg and Dixie Zabka in January of 2018. Brad and his wife, Jill, were married in October of 1994, and have two daughters, Macy and Makena. Macy is married to Jason Bosak, she is a Medical Assistant in Lincoln and Makena is married to Nathan Bierbaum, they welcomed their first daughter, Lydia Anne on July 25, 2024. They are both Funeral Directors with Zabka - Perdue Funeral Home. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, going for Corvette rides, playing golf and flying RC airplanes, his newest hobby. Brad is blessed and enjoys the relationships he is able to make throughout the community. Brad is a licensed funeral director in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. He is a member of the Nebraska and National Funeral Directors Associations. He served as the President for the Nebraska Funeral Director Association in 2016-2017. He is the Past President of Seward Rotary Club, Board of Directors for the Seward Housing Authority and the Seward Cemetery Board, Memorial Health Care Systems Board of Directors, Memorial Health Care Systems Foundation Board, Heartfelt Inc. (Heartfelt Children's Memorial), Seward Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the Board of Directors, Seward Ambassadors, Past President of Seward Youth and Community Club and a member of the Dwight Community Club. He is also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus Council #8469.

Jill Perdue

Office Manager

Jill grew up in Red Oak, IA, and is a graduate of Red Oak High School Class of 1992. She attended Northwest Missouri State University. In 1994, she married Brad Perdue and they made their home in Sterling, CO, for 10 years. She worked for Norwest Bank which later became Wells Fargo Bank, starting as a teller and moving to a Business Banking Sales Associate. They returned to Sergeant Bluff, IA, in 2004. There she worked as a para for the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Elementary School. In 2011, the Perdue family moved to Seward. Jill continued working as a para for five years at Seward Elementary School. She began working full-time at the funeral home in 2016. Brad and Jill have two daughters, Macy and Makena. Macy is married to Jason Bosak and is a Medical Assistant in Lincoln. Makena is married to Nathan Bierbaum and is a funeral director with us here at Zabka - Perdue Funeral Home. Nate and Makena welcomed Lydia Anne in July of 2024, a perfect addition to our family. Jill is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and is a member of P.E.O. Chapter CC, Seward Youth and Community Club, Past President of the Seward Kiwanis Club, member of the Memorial Health Care Systems Auxiliary and Dwight Community Club. In her free time, she enjoys walking, taking car and motorcycle rides with Brad, playing tennis, and attending community events, especially anything involving music. The Perdue family is blessed to call Seward their home.

Nathan Bierbaum

Funeral Director

Nate graduated from Seward High School in Seward, NE, in 2017. He studied at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE and finished his education at Kansas City Kansas Community College where he received his degree in Mortuary Science and graduated with honors. Nate is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #8469 and the Kiwanis Club of Seward. He joined the staff at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in 2018, joining full-time in May of 2021. Nate has been a licensed funeral director since 2022. Nate and his wife, Makena, were married in December of 2021. They welcomed their daughter, Lydia Anne, in July of 2024. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, playing cards, watching Husker sports and barbequing. Nate has lived in Seward since 2003, and is honored to serve this great community.

Makena Bierbaum

Funeral Director

Makena graduated from Seward High School in Seward, NE, with the Class of 2018. She then attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE for her prerequisite classes and graduated from SCC with her Associate of Science degree. Makena completed her education in 2021, at Kansas City Kansas Community College, graduating with honors, and obtained her Associate of Mortuary Science degree. She began working at Zabka - Perdue Funeral Home in 2018 and returned to Seward following graduation to join her parents at Zabka - Perdue Funeral Home to serve her apprenticeship year. Makena has been a licensed funeral director since 2022. She married her high school sweetheart, Nathan Bierbaum, in December of 2021, and welcomed their daughter, Lydia Anne, in July of 2024. Makena is a member of Sigma Phi Sigma, Seward Rotary Club and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward. In her free time, Makena enjoys baking, cooking, going on walks, shopping and watching movies. Makena is thankful to serve Seward and the surrounding areas.

Bob Wehrs

Assistant Funeral Director

Bob was born and raised in Milford, Nebraska and has lived his entire life in Seward County. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Milford High School in 1976. After graduation, he continued to farm and raise cattle. Bob is married to Sherri Wehrs from Columbus, Nebraska and they have three children, Travis Wehrs, Kaci Nielsen and Colton Wehrs as well as seven grandchildren. In 1990, Bob took his knowledge of feeding cattle and started Wehrs Feedyard with his wife, Sherri. After 32 years in business, Bob sold the feed yard to his nephew, but he continues to farm and take care of his cow and calf pairs. Bob is a member of the Milford Mennonite Church where he has enjoyed serving as Elder, trustee and usher over the years. Bob obtained his Assistant Funeral Director license in December of 2025. He has always enjoyed working and helping members of his community.

Greg Zabka

Retired Funeral Director

Greg W. Zabka is a graduate of Fullerton High School. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for two years and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota in 1973. Greg was employed with a mortuary in Lincoln, Nebraska for 5 years prior to joining the staff of Wood Brothers Funeral Chapel in Seward in 1978. In August of 1998, Greg and Dixie Zabka purchased the funeral home and have worked together at Zabka Funeral Home. Greg is currently the Past President of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Assn. and is a member of the National Funeral Directors Assn. Greg is a member of the United Methodist Church where he is active on numerous church committees; he is also a member of Oliver Lodge No. 38 A.F. & A.M.; Seward Chamber of Commerce, Seward Rotary Club; a member of Memorial Health Care Systems and formerly on the Board of Directors, member of the Board of Directors of Cattle Bank and Trust Company and the City of Seward Cemetery Board. Greg and Dixie's family includes their daughter Melissa and her husband Jeff Luebbe and grandsons, Lawson Paul & Layne Gregory, grand-daughter; Layla Rosa; and daughter, Monica Zabka.

Dixie Zabka

Retired

Dixie grew up in Fullerton, Nebraska and is a graduate of Fullerton High School. Greg and Dixie were married in 1971 and moved to Minnesota where Greg completed mortuary school and Dixie was employed at Twin City Federal Bank. Upon returning to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1973, Dixie completed her degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. After their daughters Melissa and Monica were born, Dixie worked part-time for Selection Research, Inc. (now Gallup) and in 1981 began employment with the School District of Seward in the District Office where she was employed for 17 years. When Greg and Dixie purchased the funeral home in 1998, Dixie began working at the funeral home with Greg. Dixie is a member of the Seward United Methodist Church where she enjoys singing with the Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women and has served on many committees. She is also a member of the Seward Area Chamber of Commerce, P.E.O. Chapter CC, Seward Magazine Club. Dixie enjoys walking, music, traveling and especially being actively involved with family - particularly their grandchildren, Lawson, Layne, Layla and living each day with gratitude!
